I bought this app , but it doesn’t support retina display, which is really disappointing.
I bought this app , but it doesn’t support retina display, which is really disappointing.
the player does not have control buttons but one ‘’play’’, it does not support arabic subtitle and it does not play some Avi and mp4 videos
It works good for me, i use it mostly for MKV files i cant use on my PS3. It works great tho, just gotta tune the settings to what you need.
Yes you do the startup speedup improvments, good job!
Fix this please!!!
While this app is a fork of the MPlayer X project, it was the first to be updated for Yosemite, even before VLC player which still does not officially support Yosemite. For basic video playing needs this app is sufficient and good at what it does. I wish this had all of the features of MPlayer X since it is not a free app like MPlayer X and VLC player but anyway so far I have no complaints and the the quality of video play is as good as any app in this category.
I see the improvements but it still needs to be faster than MplayerX so that I can set SPlayerX as the default media player.
clearly the developers and I have a different understanding of what “fixed” means… They claim "escape from fullscreen mode will not break the playback and hang the app now,” but still the playback freezes and the app becomes nonresponsive every time I exit full screen. This used to be a decent video player. I’d be more understanding and patient if they wouldn’t lie about fixing problems that render the app unusable.
It was good. I used it for a long time. Recently there is some problem with zoom in and out. It still goes white display when I double click it if I want to zoom it.
This is absolutely rubbish!!! When you use the menu bar while playing, the video freezes. When you open ‘prefereces’, it clearly says ‘MPlayerX’, meaning this is just an awkward replica of MPlayerX, and it costs $1.99!! I want my money back!! This clearly does not worth the money!!!
I shouldn’t have spent my hard earned money for this trash.I recommend the free app called MplayerX or VLC for Mac.If you don’t believe me, try playing some videos and skip forward and backward then compare to VLC and you’ll see.I’m a tech reviewer on youtube hence I don’t lie to people.
EIA-608, also known as "line 21 captions" and "CEA-608", used to be the standard for closed captioning for NTSC TV broadcasts in the United States, Canada. Nearly all the iTunes videos use CEA-608 subtitle. However SPlayerX is unable to support it at the moment.
This player can sometimes play what VLC cannot, like highly compressed 1080p videos. The UI is also more apple-ish.
I like it as much as MplayerX but for something thats not free you should at least have a next and previous buttons like MplayerX (which is free), so you can skip to next episode or song etc. Pls fix this and i will rate this app 5 starts.
I only have one complaint about app’s user interface !
Not flashy but does what I want it to do:)
I’ve used mplayerx for years, so i decided to buy the splayerx. So far so good for the most part. except a couple issues… When i use the “mini display port” on my macbook pro, to HDMI to my tv. If and when i enter fullscreen mode, splayerx zooms in about half way on the screen. rendering the movie unwatchable in fullscreen mode. Also, if i have more than 3 applications running while watching a movie. every 15 min i have to reset audio and video speeds to match voice to lips. Besides the mentioned, i would recommend this app if they fix the bugs.
dont buy this,,,,
Subtitles dont work and I lost my money
Bad: 1. The video is blurry on my Retina Display 2. Closed Caption not supported. I bought this App only hope that it supports Closed Caption for .mov videos, because VLC doesn’t. However, it has no support for Closed Caption at all. Delete this App. Switch back to VLC, and use QuickTime when I play .mov vids with Closed Caption. PS: VLC supports Closed Caption in many file formats but not .mov, hope they will fix it in the next update.
